St Helena is no longer one of the remotest destinations to get to , but it will always be an extraordinary place to visit, especially with its unique character and beauty which lies in contrasting and amazing scenery, a rich cultural heritage and environment extremely rich in biodiversity.

These are only a few of the reasons why St Helena is a perfect location for active exploration and discovery.

When visiting St Helena, you might want to consider finding St Helena accommodation whether it be  self-catering accommodation for your visit.

On St Helena self-catering accommodation is defined as a self-contained property which is guaranteed to be squeaky clean, comfortable and ready to accommodate tourists and visitors.

With its uniquely rich diversity of heritage-based attractions, both built and natural, St Helena offers many things to see and certainly lots to do, from visiting Jamestown to the rugged coastline, from the rolling hills to the stark yet striking geology at Sandy Bay. That’s the thing about St Helena there is so much more to the island than you may think. St Helena is home to the most varied heritage and nature, breath-taking views from the highest peaks, inviting waters, and 100% quaintness.

Choosing a St Helena self-catering accommodation gives you the freedom to live your day as you wish, and to enjoy a holiday itinerary of your choice. You will find a variety of different styles of accommodation from one-bedroom apartments, two bedroom guest houses and modern bungalows. Most traditional properties offer a separate space for sitting and living, in addition to kitchen facilities and bedroom(s) and bathroom(s) and the availability to rent by the week (seven nights), for a short break (2-3 nights) or by the night, according to individual requirements.

The benefits of choosing self-catering accommodation for your next holiday in St Helena.

Choosing where to stay during a family visit or a trip with friends can be a frustrating exercise. Balancing preferences and budgets are simply a nightmare.  We might be biased, but we believe that choosing self-catering properties here on the St Helena using the St Helena property finder has pretty strong advantages.

Home from home Accommodation

While travelling with friends, family members or children who have dietary requirements, choosing the self-catering accommodation option allows you to cook what you want, when you want, if you want breakfast in the middle of the day, you are welcome to it! Our self-catering properties have fully equipped modern kitchens, so you can control the ingredients, portions or cooking methods if that’s what’s required. You can keep to your own routine or break out of however you want! If you have younger members travelling and are fussy eaters, you can prepare food ready for whenever your fussy eater needs it.

Excellent value for money accommodation

When booking St Helena accommodation, it usually works out to be more cost effective than a hotel, especially if you are travelling as a family or a group. Some of our listed accommodation have two bedrooms meaning you won’t have to pay for several individual rooms as you would in a hotel.  Having the option to do your own shopping and to cook your own meals ensures that you can make your holiday extremely cost effective. Although eating out has its benefits, it is also expensive to visit a restaurant every night, shopping in local stores and preparing meals in the comfort of your self-catering property can help save you money on your holiday, whilst still allowing you to enjoy your surroundings and the local food.  Most of our self-catering properties have laundry facilities/washing, which means you don’t need to pay for laundry as you would in a hotel and they would certainly come in handy if you plan on getting messy exploring the outdoors of St. Helena.

Other places to stay on St Helena.

Although this article focuses on pocket friendly St Helena accommodation, St Helena also offers affordable traditional bed and breakfast properties for visitors. Can you tell me anything about the rebuilding/ renovations going on at Teutonic Hall? Is it to be B&B? My husband and I are planning on being in St Helena in April 2020 for our 50th wedding anniversary – and to see my parents’ graves! Mr and Mrs Mawson!

Hi Peta thank you for leaving a comment regarding Teutonic Hall, I will email you offline and send you a contact of the person who can shed some light on your request. I am sure you will enjoy St Helena, i recall your mums name from a very early age growing up on the Island. it was such a shame to see Teutonic hall deteriorate over the years, but i am sure by 2020 it will stand proud and be restored back to how your parents originally had it
