You will always get a warm welcome when visiting St Helena but on arrival at the St Helena airport during the continuous COVID 19 pandemic, despite a negative COVID test or a double jab (vaccination’s) all visitors are required to quarantine at an approved location for a period of ten days.
If you are unable to find a private or self catering property to quarantine in on Island, you will have the option to quarantine on a first come first serve basis at the specially designed revamped Accommodation facility which is known as Bradleys camp, which is owned and managed by the St Helena Government but if you are lucky enough to find your own accommodation to quarantine in, it must be accessed and approved by SHG.
Accommodation options.
Since the relaxation and update of St Helena’s COVID 19 rules from the original five meter distance rule to the two meter restrictions, this has enabled more possibilities for visitors to quarantine at home or in approved rented St Helena accommodation.
Bradleys Camp has been the go to accommodation to quarantine in which offers basic facilities for your 10 day quarantine period which includes three meals a day.
The rooms are a portakabin prefab style building, with shower and washing facilities. There is also limited internet access for each individual but additional top up facilities are also available at additional cost.
Accommodation fees and charges.
To stay at Bradleys camp and for adults the price is set at £20.00 per day.
There is also a criteria to be met to qualify for the rates.
- You must have St Helenian status or be an ordinarily resident on St Helena
- Arrival on St Helena to take up a contract of employment.
- Intending to live in St Helena for at least one year from the date of arrival.
Any one under 17 will be charged at £10.00 for each day.
- All other visitors not eligible under the above criteria will be charged £40.00 per day.
Any one renting other types of private Accommodation the fees are set by the owner of the property, these fees vary depending location or property type.
On arrival on St Helena you will get tested for the Corona Virus, and on the tenth day you will also get a test before release from quarantine. (more information about Bradleys camp facilities can be obtained on the St Helena Government website.
Home Quarantine on St Helena.
For those visitors returning and owning a home on Island, the new rules allows you to home quarantine in your own home or in other approved St Helena rented Accommodation.
There are a few accommodation owners that advertise their self catering properties for quarantine, these properties would have been pre-approved by the St Helena Government for home quarantine.
If you own a property on St Helena and you would like to quarantine in your own home on arrival, you must make sure its suitable and will have to be assessed by the authorities and given the green light if it meets the requirements for quarantine.
It’s also handy to know that bubble’ arrangements are also possible, whereas this will allow arriving passengers to enter mandatory home quarantine with each other. Bubble arrangements have been recently approved and have been used successfully on-island.
